The main objective in the environmental management is that the thermal sensation that the birds feel, is comfortable for them.

Birds don’t feel the temperature that is on the thermometers. The thermal sensation of the birds depends on: temperature, humidity, heat loss from the feet contact to the cold floor and airspeed.

Heat loss from the feet contact to the cold floor

Floor temperature when the 1-day chicks reach the farm should be 28 °C. To heat up the floor to 28 °C, heating should be turned on 24 hours prior in summer and 36 hours prior in winter

 

Airspeed

When you are using the ventilation tunnel, you should remember that there is higher air velocity at the chicken’s height. The higher air velocity leads to the faster cooling of the thermal sensation of the birds.
