The project that will run until 2030 was made by the Ministry of the health of Russia. The strategy defines state policy on preventing and limiting the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
In the development of the strategy participated the following ministries: The Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry, Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights, the FSVPS, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development, FASO and RAS. The strategy provides for strengthening control over the prescription of antibiotics in pharmacies, raising patient’s awareness.
One of the important directions of the strategy implementation is the reduction of the maximum permissible levels of antibiotics in products. Used to stimulate growth and prevent diseases, antibiotics in agriculture can promote cross-resistance to antibiotics in humans. Previously, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture reported that various options are being considered to solve the problem, in particular, the rejection of antibiotics in agriculture.
As is expected the implementation of the strategy will increase the detection of drug-resistant infections among humans and animals, which will make it possible to reduce mortality from antimicrobial-resistant infections.
