As a part of the formal visit of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to the Kingdom of Morocco, Alexander Tkachev, as a member of the Russian delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with Moroccan partners. Russian Minister of Agriculture took part in the opening ceremony of the Russian-Moroccan business forum as part of the business mission of Russian exporters to Morocco.
“Not only the growths of volumes are important, but also export diversification in terms of geography and commodity composition. We are ready to supply the Moroccan market with wheat, sunflower oil, sweets, sugar, meat products and ice -cream ”- said Tkachev.
It is specified that Russia continues to be one of the main suppliers of soft wheat to Morocco. In 2016th, Russia supplied the country with 735,000 tons of wheat worth $ 116 million. The Minister also noted that the bilateral trade turnover in 2016th had increased by almost a third and amounted to 1.3 billion dollars. At the same time, commodity turnover of agricultural products increased 1.5 times and amounted to 530 million dollars.
«The dynamics of the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Morocco were characterized by the expansion of cooperation and business partnership. Development of business cooperation is influenced directly by the intensity and depth of engagement between business communities of our countries.» The Russian-Moroccan business forum opens a «window of opportunity» for Russian businesses interested in entry to a promising Moroccan market, «Tkachev stressed.
